Forest Resources of GTM Research Reserve |
Quick Topics |
|
Forest resources vary within the management units that
comprise GTM Research Reserve. State agency
specific information is available within each unit's Acquisition and Restoration Council (ARC) approved
management plan. The most practical application of silviculture within the CAMA
managed areas of GTM Research Reserve is as a tool
in achieving restoration objectives and reducing
wildfire hazards. In the best case scenario, the revenue
potential of timber harvest in GTM Research Reserve is low to
average. 50 acres of slash pine have invaded a freshwater marsh on the Guana Peninsula and removal of
this timber would be consistent with resource management goals.
